Working to reduce our environmental impact
We have undertaken extensive studies to establish the potential impact from the construction and operational phases of the South Hook LNG Terminal on the surrounding environment and community.
Furthermore, we have worked with experts in the field to identify techniques on how best to mitigate any impact.

These studies assessed any potential impact on the local ecology, aesthetics, air quality, water quality, noise levels, land and archaeology of the site, and the immediate surroundings.

We are committed to being recognised as a considerate and environmentally focused neighbour and take our environmental responsibilities extremely seriously. We also realise that any impact we have is potentially further reaching than to just our local surroundings.

The large specially commissioned LNG ships will reduce the number of trips required, thereby diminishing the overall environmental impact of our shipping activities.

We carefully plan and manage operations on site to ensure they are conducted safely using the best available techniques (BAT). We operate in accordance with a comprehensive Environmental Permit, which is closely monitored by the Environment Agency.

Furthermore, South Hook is regulated as part of the European Union's Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS), designed to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the environment by industry.

Conservation Area
A large section of our land (over 100 acres) to the west of where the terminal is being built is allocated as a conservation area that forms part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (PCNP).
